Arguably the beginning of the "new phase" of my music now available on suitably retro cassette format. the album is centred around memories of the mid to late 1980s. I was very much a cassette / walkman kind of kid and spent hours wandering around listening to tapes and building my musical world up. I still write and think of albums as having to be contained on one side of a C90, so therefore 45 mins max over 2 sides.

Due to the running time of the cassettes it is likely that only the original album (with possible edits) will fit on and that the running order may need to be juggled about! Another unique aspect.

Artwork is just a mock-up and may differ. The cassette will be apricot coloured though!

about

The main album was written and recorded within a week after going to see The Coral live in Leeds. There are 3 songs very heavily influenced by the band. No prizes for spotting them. It did, however, open up a seam of songs which had me reflecting back on my childhood through to being a teenager. The six extra tracks made it onto the EPs which immediately followed the album but I thought I'd collect them here as they were all written in the same period and are all related to the themes of the rest of the album.

This album has a special place in my heart as it was the first full work I wrote after the death of my father. I think the "nostalgic" aspect of the music and lyrics was very much me trying to focus on the good memories of childhood rather than the immediate grief. I also think I just generally upped my game from hereon.
