Vocal samples galore and I was deep into cutting and pasting by the sound of it to create syncopated rhythms. Another Sly Stone throwback. the song In Time, in particular, from the album Fresh was and has been a big influence on this kind of thing through the years. Complex rhythms created by placing tiny elements in their own space.
