about

A reworked version of a song that was, originally, called "Cheesecake" and was about sexual awakening through finding soggy, discarded pornographic magazines in plastic bags, in the lanes of the village in which I grew up. As I'd already covered similar ground in the song Real Women from the album Your Lipstick Goodbye I rewrote the lyric to be a Smiths-esque ode to lost love. The structure, melody and a few lyrics remain. The original choirs section began "Someone left a cheesecake in the rain" a nod to Macarthur Park by Jimmy Webb.
